After completing an initial two-week internship with our Brussels team, Safia returned for a longer placement, eager to build on what she had learned and gain a deeper understanding of the industry.

Having enjoyed her first experience with EV Cargo, Safia saw the extended internship as an opportunity to further explore the logistics sector and develop her practical knowledge. While her first placement focused on learning the export process and understanding the day-to-day operations of the business, the longer internship allowed her to become much more involved in the work itself.

With greater responsibility came greater opportunities to learn. During her placement, Safia took ownership of managing shipments from start to finish, overseeing the process from the moment a booking was received until the goods arrived safely at their final destination. Working on a variety of shipments helped her understand the complexities of export operations while highlighting the importance of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.

The experience also played a significant role in building her confidence. Like many people entering a new industry, Safia initially relied on guidance from colleagues to ensure she was completing tasks correctly. However, through a combination of detailed note-taking, hands-on experience, and a willingness to learn, she gradually became more independent in her role.

Reflecting on her development, Safia says that one of the biggest lessons she has learned is that new challenges can seem daunting at first, but with practice and determination they become much easier to overcome. The progress she has made throughout the internship has given her the confidence to handle most tasks independently, seeking support only when faced with something genuinely unfamiliar.

My confidence has grown significantly throughout this experience. At the beginning, I often needed to ask questions to make sure I was completing tasks correctly. Thanks to the notes I made during my training period and the experience I gained, I can now handle most tasks independently. I only ask for help when I am genuinely unsure. This experience has shown me that learning new things may seem difficult at first, but with practice and determination, it becomes much easier.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the placement has been seeing that progress firsthand. Beyond developing new skills, Safia has enjoyed being able to make a meaningful contribution to the team’s work and play an active role in supporting customer shipments.

That growth has been made possible by the support of the EV Cargo Brussels team. Throughout her internship, colleagues have been generous with their time and expertise, answering questions, sharing knowledge, and providing encouragement whenever needed. Their guidance has helped create an environment where learning and development can flourish.

The experience has also helped shape Safia’s future ambitions. By gaining a deeper insight into the logistics industry and experiencing the fast-paced nature of export operations, she has strengthened her interest in the sector and confirmed her desire to pursue a career in logistics.

Safia’s journey is a great example of how practical experience, combined with the support of experienced colleagues, can help young professionals develop both their skills and confidence. We are proud to have been part of her learning journey and look forward to seeing where her future career takes her.

We would like to thank Safia for her enthusiasm, commitment, and contribution to the EV Cargo Brussels team, and wish her every success in the future.
