Your new role

Within this growing team, you will report to the Legal Counsel, and will be responsible for a range of duties which are designed to move the business operations forward. This is a key role for the business and we need someone who has significant experience of working within a similar environment.

The overarching focus of this job is to ensure EV Cargo complies with data protection regulation through the creation and implementation of data protection policies and procedures for all EV Cargo companies, via regular auditing.

Some key duties of this job are listed below, however this is not an exhaustive list;

What will I be doing?

  • Creation and implementation of data protection policies and procedures for all EV Cargo companies
  • Regular auditing of systems and processes to ensure compliance with data protection policies
  • Regular reporting to the EV Cargo board with regard to risks and issues relating to data protection
  • Responding to Subject Access Requests including the compilation of SAR responses and liaison with the Data Subject
  • Performing Data Protection Impact Assessments for new and existing systems
  • Participation in contract negotiations to ensure compliance with data protection regulations including the production and implementation of Data Processor Agreements
  • Responding to breaches including liaison with the relevant authority such as the ICO
  • Act as point of contact with EU residents, supervisory authorities and internal teams
  • Identify and evaluate the company’s data processing activities
  • Provide advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company
  • Participate in meetings with managers to ensure privacy by design at all levels
  • Maintain records of processing operations
  • Ensure we address all queries from data subjects within legal timeframes
  • Liaise with other organisations that process data on our behalf
  • Write and update detailed guides on data protection policies
  • Perform audits and determine whether we need to alter our procedures to comply with regulations
  • Offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches
  • Arrange for training on GDPR compliance for employees
  • Follow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance
