Global logistics and technology provider EV Cargo is celebrating its ongoing investment in people and skills after two of its truck drivers roared to national success at this year\u2019s prestigious Microlise Driver of the Year Awards in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Steve Lynch and Luke Tranter, who are based at the company\u2019s Moreton Valance depot in Gloucestershire, were crowned Driver Hero and Young Driver of the Year respectively after impressing judges with their quick thinking, expertise behind the wheel and dedication to promoting logistics as a successful career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The panel of industry experts heard how Steve, who has been with the company for seven years and an HGV driver for 17, attended to another driver who had fallen seriously ill, administering vital first aid and calling the emergency services to ensure an ambulance was on its way. The paramedics thanked Steve for his quick actions, which undoubtedly helped save his stricken colleague\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile Luke, 20, won the coveted Young Driver award due to his continued dedication to encouraging other young people to consider logistics as an exciting career option by representing EV Cargo at truck shows and public events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After joining the company as an apprentice and completing his training in August 2019, Luke became an HGV truck driver covering nationwide routes across the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Microlise Driver of the Year Awards highlight the most talented logistics drivers working in the UK transport industry and acknowledge the vital work they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With categories based solely on telematics data, and others being nomination-based, the awards are open to all drivers and are a perfect way to reward outstanding performance and industry excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Steve and Luke\u2019s categories, drivers and transport managers were invited to nominate their colleagues, with the nomination being supported by employers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Andy Humpherson, chief executive of EV Cargo\u2019s road freight business unit, said: \u201cSteve and Luke are skilled drivers and excellent ambassadors for the EV Cargo brand, successfully representing our business on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
