{"id":148005,"date":"2023-06-12T18:31:09","date_gmt":"2023-06-12T17:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/evc.extramilecommunications.dev\/?p=148005"},"modified":"2024-07-02T15:07:21","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T14:07:21","slug":"ev-cargo-announced-as-triple-finalist-in-uk-transport-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.evcargo.com\/en\/ev-cargo-announced-as-triple-finalist-in-uk-transport-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"EV Cargo Announced As Triple Finalist In UK Transport Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>EV Cargo has been shortlisted as a finalist in three separate categories at the 2023 Motor Transport Awards, which celebrate excellence in the UK\u2019s road freight transport sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demonstrating the significant strides it has made in sustainability, especially around helping decarbonise customer supply chains, EV Cargo is a finalist in both the Sustainable Transport Award and the Low Carbon Award. In addition, EV Cargo\u2019s express distribution network <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palletforce.com\">Palletforce<\/a> has been shortlisted in the Business Excellence category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judges for the Sustainable Transport category were looking for companies that had detailed policies in place to ensure their business is working towards carbon neutrality, protects the health and well-being of its employees and is able to recruit and retain the people it needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Low Carbon Award required companies to demonstrate their commitment to developing and implementing initiatives to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, through reducing miles and utilising alternative fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a core company value, EV Cargo\u2019s award submissions demonstrated a robust sustainability strategy, which included its commitment to the UN Global Compact and the incorporation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to meet fundamental responsibilities in human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also outlined a range of successful decarbonisation projects including the use of HVO fuel as an alternative to traditional diesel, using technology to reduce delivery miles and the implementation of green energy sources for offices and depots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EV Cargo switched 5.4 million delivery km from diesel to HVO, undertook freight co-loading and adopted a \u2018fewer and friendlier miles\u2019 approach, which saw it reduce overall emissions by 29.4% or 159,900 tCO2e during 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, EV Cargo\u2019s Palletforce delivered business excellence throughout the year after investing across the network, adding 16 new member businesses, decreasing turnaround times and improving delivery performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Virginia Alzina, EV Cargo Chief Sustainability Officer, said: \u201cWe are delighted that EV Cargo\u2019s commitment to sustainability and its impressive environmental achievements have once again been recognised by industry leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGuided by our commitment to the UN Global Compact, and aligned to the Science Based Targets Initiative, we are well on our way to achieving carbon neutrality across scope 1 and 2 by 2030.
