The contract has excellent synergies with Downton\u2019s current contracts in the region and will help enhance efficiency and further reduce empty mileage.<\/p>\n<p>By leveraging technology expertise within EV Cargo, Downton will deliver continuous improvement for Smurfit Kappa and help streamline transport operations. To maximise load-fill, Downton is investing in 30 bespoke, tall trailers for the contract and will trial the use of longer semi-trailers.<\/p>\n<p>Zac Brown, CM Downton managing director, said: \u201cAligned with EV Cargo, the Downton strategy is focused on growth and delivering supply chain solutions powered by innovation and technology. The addition of this major new contract with Smurfit Kappa has marked our intentions for the year.
