Award-winning haulier CM Downton<\/a>, part of UK logistics giant EV Cargo, has completed the signing of business contracts worth \u00a330 million annually after securing a number of contract extensions and new business wins.<\/p>\n

The Gloucestershire-based firm, which recently announced a \u00a35 million fleet investment, has won new business from Highland Spring, a leading spring water producer, and Mirius, a provider of global hygiene solutions.<\/p>\n

Both companies have manufacturing or warehousing facilities based in the Midlands and required a national distribution solution at short notice, which Downton was able to quickly and efficiency supply through its national network.<\/p>\n

Downton also secured a number of contract extensions and renewals with long-standing clients including UPM, ROCKWOOL and Hydro.<\/p>\n

It currently provides on-site logistics services for UPM, including material handling equipment, at the Shotton paper mill in North Wales. Recovered paper is delivered inbound with finished paper reels distributed to a number of locations. Downton also manages UPM\u2019s distribution of paper and timber products from the Port of Tilbury.<\/p>\n

Downton provides transport and warehousing for insulation manufacturer ROCKWOOL, distributing full truck-load and groupage orders to the building trade sector and using sister EV Cargo company Palletforce to sustainably deliver smaller consignments.<\/p>\n

The Hydro contract sees Downton operate a national distribution service and manage all transport activities from three key aluminium extrusion sites.<\/p>\n

Chris McGirr, Highland Spring Group\u00a0logistics manager, said: \u201cHighland Spring recently reviewed its transport operations in the Midlands and selected Downton as the preferred partner due to the swift, detailed responses and flexibility their operation can provide for a fast moving and relatively volatile demand-driven product like water. Progress to date for the transition has been excellent and we look forward to growing the operation with Downton in the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n
