{"id":97925,"date":"2019-05-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/evc.extramilecommunications.dev\/downton-drivers-go-the-extra-mile\/"},"modified":"2024-07-02T15:10:33","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T14:10:33","slug":"downton-drivers-go-the-extra-mile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.evcargo.com\/en\/downton-drivers-go-the-extra-mile\/","title":{"rendered":"EV Cargo\u2019s Downton drivers go the extra mile at national awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inspirational <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downton.co.uk\/\">CM Downton<\/a> and EV Cargo truck driver Annette Stagg has been recognised with a top award at one of the haulage industry\u2019s most prestigious events to celebrate outstanding commercial vehicle drivers.<\/p>\n<p>Annette was crowned winner in the Extra Mile category at the Microlise Driver of the Year Awards, which highlight the most talented HGV drivers working in the UK transport industry and acknowledge the vital work they do.<\/p>\n<p>The category is for drivers who deliver an exemplary level of service, show great commitment to get the job done, and act as a role model for young drivers.<\/p>\n<p>As one of the first female drivers in the industry, and the first at Downton\u2019s Runcorn depot, Annette has flown the flag for female drivers on a national level \u2013 including an appearance on BBC\u2019s Breakfast TV programme.<\/p>\n<p>And she was just one of four Downton drivers to be nominated for awards at this year\u2019s black tie event, which was held in front of 1200 people at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.<\/p>\n<p>Class 2 driver Paul Meadows, who joined the company earlier this year, was also nominated in the Extra Mile category.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Cameron Dean, who began his career as mechanic before becoming Downton\u2019s first driving apprentice of 2018, was shortlisted for the Young Driver of the Year award.<\/p>\n<p>Kenny Wright \u2013 a driver for 40 years \u2013 was in the running for the Lifetime Achievement Award which recognises the driver who is often an ambassador for their company, having consistently delivered excellent performance and loyalty over a long period of time.<\/p>\n<p>CM Downton managing director Duncan Eyre said: \u201cWe are hugely proud of all our drivers, and we\u2019re delighted that these four have been recognised nationally for their skill and dedication. Special congratulations must go to Annette, however.
