That presentation motivated me to apply. My first-semester internship went extremely well, which encouraged us to continue with EV Cargo for the second semester.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\tWe applied because EV Cargo is a well-known company in logistics and transport. We wanted to gain real work experience and see how a professional warehouse operates. It felt like the perfect opportunity to learn things you can’t learn in a classroom.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

Experiencing Logistics First-Hand <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Throughout their placements, both students gained exposure to various aspects of the logistics industry, from warehouse operations to office-based freight forwarding activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azeddine particularly enjoyed experiencing the international scale of the business.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tI really appreciated the atmosphere at EV Cargo, but also the international scale of the company. That global dimension is what interested me the most.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

Hamza agreed, highlighting the opportunity to become part of the team rather than simply observing from the sidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tWe really enjoyed being part of a real team and doing actual work. It wasn’t just watching \u2014 we were involved in daily tasks like picking orders and processing goods. That feeling of contributing something useful was great.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

Their experience also provided valuable insight into the complexity and organisation required to keep supply chains moving efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tWe were surprised by how well-organised everything was. There are strict processes for every single step, and everyone knows exactly what to do. We also didn’t expect the team to be so welcoming and helpful from day one. I was impressed by how professionally the company is organised, as well as by the strong teamwork culture. This collaborative way of working really helps the company move forward.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

With any new experience, there were challenges to overcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Hamza, learning new systems and understanding operational workflows required time and patience.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tAt the beginning it was a lot to take in. Learning the systems, understanding the workflow, and remembering where everything is stored took some time. But after a few weeks it started to feel natural and we got more confident.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

Azeddine found the transition from warehouse operations to office-based logistics particularly eye-opening.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tAt first, the office work felt challenging. During the first semester, we were working in the warehouse, which was very dynamic but relatively easy. Office work involves much more pressure and requires a high level of attention to detail.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

During the placement, both interns developed valuable professional skills including communication, organisation, problem-solving, and working with logistics systems. They also gained a deeper understanding of how classroom learning translates into real-world operations.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tI used the knowledge I had gained during my Transport & Logistics courses at school. However, I quickly realised that this was not enough. Throughout my internship, I learned a great deal from the employees, who helped me understand the practical side of the job and develop new skills.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\tWe used communication skills, worked with logistics software, and learned how to stay organised under time pressure. We also developed our ability to work independently and take responsibility.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

A New Perspective on Logistics Careers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
One of the biggest outcomes of the placement was how it changed the interns’ perception of careers within the logistics sector.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tMany people used to tell me that the logistics sector was not particularly interesting. Before starting my internships, I had a very limited view of what logistics really involved. These experiences completely changed my perspective.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

Before joining EV Cargo, both students had only a limited understanding of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tIt made us see logistics as a much bigger and more dynamic field than we thought. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes – planning, communication, technology, and teamwork. We now see it as a serious and interesting career path.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

Through their rotations across different departments and functions, they gained a comprehensive view of how freight forwarding operations work.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tA typical day for a freight forwarder involves receiving a job and working through it from start to finish. I had the opportunity to rotate through all the different positions within the department and learn each stage of the process. This helped me understand the workflow and gave me a better idea of what I might enjoy doing in the future.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t

Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
As they return to their studies, both interns feel more confident about their future careers and the opportunities available within logistics and supply chain management.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\t\t\t\tMy internship at EV Cargo was an unforgettable experience. Together with Hamza, I learnt something new about the world of logistics every day. The warehouse team constantly inspired us by sharing their knowledge and supporting us. We would like to thank Tineke De Vries for giving us the opportunity of this work experience. \n\t\t\t\tMy internship at EV Cargo was both enriching and enjoyable. I gained valuable hands-on experience and learned a lot about the transport and logistics industry. What made this internship especially memorable was the amazing team. My colleagues were incredibly welcoming and involved us in the daily work from the very beginning. They made us feel comfortable and treated us as if we were part of their family. I am excited for my future internships and look forward to learning new skills, gaining more experience, and discovering different aspects of this dynamic industry.
