People

We prioritise ensuring that our employees are engaged and empowered to take on new workplace challenges. We believe that success depends on a skilled and motivated workforce and that employee engagement is key to employee retention.

People at EV Cargo

To effectively foster a meaningful work experience, we believe it is important that our employees have knowledge of the company’s direction and priorities and understand how their efforts and successes contribute to overall goals. We also seek to foster a culture of respect and transparency, practice a management style that both listens to employees and actively addresses any concerns and empower employees to take on new challenges in their jobs.

Employee welfare

Our commitment to our people is demonstrated through our Delivering Better programme, where we have created an environment enabling personal growth. In 2021 we reorganised into one core People team to support greater people resourcing.

Diversity & inclusivity

In 2021 the proportion of females in the organisation increased from 19% to 24% within six months. In 2022 new training programmes including the Aspirational Women Programme and Diversity & Inclusivity training for newly appointed managers was launched.

Training & development

In 2021 we delivered over 15,000 hours of training to our people, with over 900 hours of diversity and inclusivity training to our senior managers and over 140 hours in equipping our leaders to manage people related matters.

Health & safety

All managers and supervisors are trained in conducting risk assessments and delivering SSoW training to their respective teams. Regular monitoring of these processes is conducted by the corporate Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) team.

Forced labour

In 2021 we published our Modern Slavery Statement and Ethical Trade Policy, which describes expectations of our employees, suppliers and contractors on topics such as child labour, forced or compulsory labour, health and safety, discrimination and living wages.

Customer service

Our team in Poland received an honourable mention in ‘The Best Service of Sea Groupage’ category, at the Logistics Operator of the Year Awards in December 2021.

Local Communities

EV Cargo Palletforce has pledged long-term support to two of the UK’s leading charities battling hunger, FareShare and the Trussell Trust. Our Sustainability Champions have been instrumental in driving our ‘Single Use Plastics Policy’, our intention to reduce plastic waste and unify all company activities to minimise the impact of our own and our customers’ global operations on the immediate environment.

Within the local communities across our international markets we support grassroot and holiday camps to professional rugby clubs such as Gloucester Rugby and football teams including West Bromwich Albion and Burton Albion. In addition, we support community initiatives such as Crossroads Foundation in Hong Kong, volunteer at local farms in Amsterdam and participate in regular beach clean ups.
