EV Cargo has pledged its commitment to a worldwide corporate sustainability campaign to help deliver its environmental, social and corporate governance strategy.
The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative aimed at encouraging international businesses to implement universal sustainability principles and take steps to support the sustainable development goals set out by the United Nations in 2015.
More than 13,000 companies from 160 countries have now agreed to align their operations and strategies with the Global Compact’s Ten Principles, which cover human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
As a signatory, EV Cargo will adopt frameworks for driving strategy and making its business more sustainable – and commit to reporting annually on how it is implementing the principles.
An essential and mission-critical service provider to the world’s leading brands, EV Cargo already supports and assists customers in meeting sustainability targets by creating supply chain solutions which help reduce environmental and social impacts and protect company value.
And, with around 4,000 employees in the UK and 300 employees operating across 30 countries, EV Cargo prides itself as being a driver of economic growth and individual prosperity.
The company’s sustainability targets and performance objectives are grouped under three pillars: People, Planet and Profit. This translates as taking care of employees, improving the environmental footprint of operations, specifically focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and developing services for supply chains.
EV Cargo’s Executive Board of Directors and the Sustainability Committee play an important role in shaping and ensuring the long-term viability of the company’s strategy, including incorporating sustainable practices to business operations and measuring performance of objectives and targets.
Dr Virginia Alzina, EV Cargo chief sustainability officer, said: “Sustainability is key to EV Cargo’s operations and growth, with continual investment in market-leading infrastructure, technology and skills aimed at reducing energy, slashing emissions and cutting freight miles.
“Signing up to the UN Global Compact reinforces our commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance, social responsibility and environmental protection at our operations and the communities we operate in.
“We look forward to being part of a global network committed to supporting and upholding corporate sustainability in all its forms.”
