EV Cargo has dedicated its flagship Bardon logistics site to the memory of William Alfred John Toye, known to colleagues and friends as Will, recognising his lasting contribution to the freight-forwarding industry and the values that continue to shape the business today.
Colleagues, friends and members of the Toye family came together at EV Cargo’s Bardon site in the UK for a special dedication ceremony, officially naming the building Will Toye House in honour of the pioneering entrepreneur and respected industry leader.
The afternoon gathering brought together those who knew Will personally and those who continue his legacy through their work at EV Cargo. Guests enjoyed canapés and champagne as they celebrated his life, career and enduring influence on the business.
Will co-founded Allport in 1963 and, over several decades, helped build a business renowned throughout the freight-forwarding industry. Allport went on to become a cornerstone of what is now EV Cargo, making a significant contribution to the Group’s history and development.
However, his legacy extends far beyond commercial success. Throughout his career, Will championed integrity, quality, service and strong relationships, while creating a culture built on respect, generosity and a genuine regard for people.
Speaking at the ceremony, EV Cargo’s Executive Chairman, Heath Zarin reflected on Will’s remarkable character, describing him as a pioneering businessman and a deeply valued friend. He recalled Will’s wisdom, warmth, humour and generosity, as well as the guidance and encouragement he provided over many years.
Will was a trusted adviser, a devoted family man and a respected figure across the industry. His ability to put people at ease, share his experience and support those around him left a lasting impression on colleagues, friends and business partners alike.
Bardon is one of EV Cargo’s flagship logistics operations, representing the high standards of quality, reliability, professionalism and customer service that underpin the Group’s work around the world. Naming the building Will Toye House is a fitting tribute to the values he embodied and the culture he helped establish.
The dedication also serves as a reminder of the importance of putting customers first, treating colleagues with respect, building lasting relationships and investing in people – principles that remain central to EV Cargo today.
EV Cargo is honoured to recognise Will’s extraordinary contribution and grateful to Rose and the wider Toye family for their support in dedicating the site to his memory.
Will Toye’s legacy lives on in the people, relationships and values that continue to shape EV Cargo. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
