• Peer Arno Schmidt joins EV Cargo as Commercial Director, Greater China

EV Cargo, the leading global freight forwarding, supply chain services and technology company, has appointed Mr Peer Arno Schmidt as Commercial Director, Greater China, based at its global headquarters in Hong Kong.

Mr Schmidt will play a key role in EV Cargo’s continued expansion in Greater China and across Asia as part of the company’s strategic growth plan, which has a focus on opportunities provided by the world’s fastest-growing economies. He will lead a commercial team to develop freight forwarding, contract logistics and eCommerce opportunities in the region, helping to expand customer service and cross-sales fertilisation across EV Cargo’s operations.

Mr Schmidt has more than 20 years of logistics industry experience, with 15 years in Hong Kong. He joins EV Cargo from Arvato Supply Chains Solutions, Hong Kong, where he was Regional Director, Business Development – Asia-Pacific, with responsibility for the business development of leading international brands. Before that he worked for Janco Global Logistics in Hong Kong as Business Development Manager, specialising in cross-border eCommerce, contract logistics, international freight forwarding and express services. He has also worked for Cargo Services Far East, Kuehne & Nagel, Rhenus Logistics Asia-Pacific, METRO Group and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

Mr Schmidt has a Bachelor in Transport Economics & Logistics from Deutsche Aussenhandels und Verkenhrs-Akademie in Bremen, Germany, and an MSc in Global Supply Chain Management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

EV Cargo, which manages supply chains for the world’s leading brands, aims to surpass $3bn of revenue through organic growth and strategic M&A activities, with growth in Asia and in particular China playing a key role. This is the latest in a series of significant additions to EV Cargo’s Asian leadership team, as the company continues to invest to position itself for growth and resilience.
