Our core values – growth, innovation and sustainability – form the foundation of our culture, corporate and sustainability strategy. Sustainability has become a buzzword for modern businesses, but all too often environmentally friendly credentials turn out to be little more than hot air. Logistic companies can value speed over sustainability, but at EV Cargo we believe there doesn’t have to be that trade.

We do all we can to look after our customers and our planet. For EV Cargo, sustainability is about doing rather than saying – which is why we believe in a proactive approach and a commitment which is hard-wired into every aspect of our operations.

We have a robust sustainability strategy built around three key pillars: people, planet and profit. Each has its own distinct part to play in directing our strategy for a low carbon, sustainable and responsible future.

Our commitment is to both cultivate a sustainable company and a sustainable planet. But there is, of course, much that remains to be done and we will remain to be guided by our values and sustainability strategy.

Our commitment

We value sustainability over speed and do not believe that profit has to come at the expense of the planet.

Pledge Partner

EV Cargo signed to be a Pledge Partner at COP26 in Glasgow last November in CALSTART’s Global Commercial Vehicle Drive to Zero program to adopt 30% of zero emissions vehicles by 2030 and 100% by 2040. Through the Drive to Zero programme, we aim to accelerate near- and zero-emission commercial vehicle (ZECV) growth worldwide, with the vision that zero-emission technology will be commercially viable and cost competitive by 2025 and dominate by 2040 in specific vehicle segments. The landmark new global agreement on zero emission trucks and buses also sets a new standard for transforming commercial transport, putting it on pace to match the Paris Agreement carbon net zero goals.

Driving efficiency

At EV Cargo we use the latest technology as we constantly strive to cut emissions. But being a green logistics company isn’t only about reducing fuel use: it’s about enhancing the use of other parts of the vehicles that are often forgotten about. We understand that every movement and decision contributes to our global footprint. We plan routes to maximise the life expectancy of tyres, oil and parts, and infrastructure. Our extensive network of distribution centres and transparent communication processes around the globe ensure that routes are planned systematically.

EV Cargo was the first logistics operator in the UK to run the FMCG industry’s first all-electric, zero-emission HGV truck as part of a significant sustainability partnership with one of its key customers to reduce CO2 emissions associated with supply chain operations. We also introduced Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) biofuel at one of our hubs, which will deliver up to a 90% reduction in carbon emissions, and we have drastically curtailed the environmental impact of supply chain activity by using Packaging Compliance technology to reduce paper and corrugate usage, miles travelled and carbon footprint. In addition EV Cargo has created Sustainability Champions, to innovate and implement responsible practices throughout our ecosystem.
