Global logistics and technology business EV Cargo has partnered with one of world motorsport’s top rally drivers to help grow its brand and deliver global exposure.

British star Elfyn Evans has been appointed as an EV Cargo brand ambassador for 2021. The 32-year-old from Wales, a long-term Red Bull athlete, narrowly missed out on being crowned FIA World Rally Champion in a nail-biting season finale and is gunning for championship victory in 2021.

He’s an official driver for the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team and is set to tackle the 12 events across UK, Europe, Africa, Asia and South America which comprise this year’s FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).

The WRC provides a significant promotional platform for global business EV Cargo. The series sees drivers race high-performance, production-based rally cars on Tarmac, gravel, snow and ice – beginning with the iconic Rallye Monte Carlo in January and finishing with Rally Japan in November.

TV audiences are expected to reach 1 billion across 155 markets this year, with the action from each event beamed in real-time on the WRC’s dedicated live online portal. The championship attracts over 4 million on-event spectators (pre-Covid restrictions) and sees over 1.4 billion online impressions from a global fanbase of website visitors.

Aligned with EV Cargo’s key values of sustainability and innovation, world motorsport incorporates technology which is used to drive sustainability in road car manufacturing and the WRC will introduce new rules in 2022 introducing hybrid rally cars with electric power.

Dave Holland, EV Cargo vice president marketing and communications, said: “The partnership with Elfyn will allow the EV Cargo brand to be exposed to a huge worldwide audience and aligned with a number of global and consumer household brands. Elfyn is a high-performing athlete, successfully competing on an international level and committed to delivering the best possible performance – so there are many synergies with EV Cargo and we are excited to announce him as one of our brand ambassadors.”

Elfyn Evans, world rally driver, said: “I’m pleased to partner with EV Cargo for the 2021 season. After narrowly missing out on the championship last month, we have a significant season ahead and it’s great to have this additional support. We are now fully focused on the first event of the year at Rallye Monte Carlo next week.”
