Palletforce has recruited two new members to create the capacity for growth and ensure its service offering in Cambridgeshire is unrivalled in the express freight distribution sector.

Local distribution experts Graysons Freight Services and MLH Transport will provide comprehensive coverage of CB and CM postcodes in and around Cambridge, further boosting Palletforce’s sector-leading service in the area. Their addition is part of a wider strategy to strengthen the network across East Anglia, with further developments lined up in the coming months.

The region is complex, with city and rural customers alongside deliveries in technology and science parks, and offers many commercial and growth opportunities. Both businesses are long-standing local logistics providers and will allow Palletforce to enhance its customer-focused service.

Despite nearly 40 years in business, this is the first time Graysons has joined a network. Based at a three-acre site in Haverhill, the firm operates a 50,000 sq ft warehousing complex covered by HMRC for the use of dry and wet bonded goods.

Managing director Stuart Jackson said: “Joining a pallet network was part of our strategy for long-term growth, and the service and expertise of Palletforce, as well as their serious investment in IT and infrastructure, make them the perfect fit for our own aspirations.

“We’re delighted to be part of the UK’s leading pallet distribution network, and we look forward to working closely with their regional operations and sales teams.”

Family-run MLH Transport started as a one-man-one-van operation in 1992. Today founder and current managing director Mike Langley, together with sons Jamie and Martin, preside over a 40-strong fleet based at a 6,000 sq ft depot in Ely.

Previously members of the United Pallet Network, MLH specialises in freight service, truck transport, and pallet delivery. As part of Palletforce, they will primarily cover postcodes north and east of Cambridge, and benefit from constant, solid volumes.

Chief operating officer Jamie Langley said: “Joining Palletforce offers us the opportunity to build volumes within a concentrated area, reduce lead times, and grow the collections side of our business.

“At the same time, the invaluable support provided by a network of this size has been a key factor in our decision to switch.”

Palletforce member relations director David Breeze said: “Graysons and MLH are highly-experienced operators in Cambridgeshire and will both reinforce and enhance our service in the area. Our investments across the network, particularly with the roll-out of recent ePOD2 technology, the central SuperHub and sector-leading distribution services, continue to drive confidence and security, making Palletforce the network of choice for operators with long-term growth aspirations.”
