The Role:

We’re looking for a highly competent Security Officer to join the team at our Ashby operation on a 4/on/4/off shift pattern. As part of the security team, you will help to monitor the site and secure the perimeter to protect colleagues and visitors as well as our assets and inventory. The ideal candidate will be in possession of an SIA Licence and have prior experience as a security officer/Military experience.

The business will rely on you for the protection, safeguarding and security of its physical assets and people through a rotating 4-on-4-off day shift pattern providing the site with cover, 7 days per week.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Site patrols (when required) to monitor the perimeter, access points and check buildings and equipment.
  •  Monitoring surveillance cameras and equipment.
  •  Vetting and recording visitors and contractors on arrival, responding to emails, controlling site registers, answering out of hours calls etc.
  •  Authorise the ingress/egress of vehicles to site and the recording of commercial vehicle movements via TMS system.
  •  Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel and visitors including on-site compliance with Health & Safety policy, use of designated walkways and the wearing of the correct PPE.
  •  Maintain a smart and presentable appearance, wearing issued uniform / PPE at all times and ensuring your SIA Licence is valid and fully visible whilst on shift.
  •  Note and escalate suspicious behaviors and happenings.
  •  Immediate response to all site alarms.
  •  Submit reports of daily surveillance activity.
  •  Conduct a handover with the oncoming shift.
  •  Protect and maintain confidential information.
  •  Adhere to all company service and operating standards.
  •  Be a point of contact for first aid.

Essential Skills:

  • Qualifications. Level 2 in English & Maths. Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence.
  • Experience. 2 years’ experience as a Security Officer, similar role, or ex-military. Knowledge of standard security concepts, practices, and procedures. Experience with report writing. IT literate to a basic standard. Outstanding surveillance and observation skills. Experience in monitoring surveillance systems. Trained in First Aid. Good understanding of legal guidelines for security and public safety.
  • Communication. You will have excellent communication skills, spoken and written. Team player.
  • Planning & Organisation. Excellent attention to detail. Good organisational skills. Good at task management and prioritisation. Able to work unsupervised, continually managing time and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines. Ability to work under pressure. Flexible attitude to working hours. Ability to work on a rolling shift pattern which may result in night, weekend, and Bank holiday working. Periods of overtime may also be required to maintain the shift pattern in the case of holiday/sickness cover. Ability to commute to Morton Valence.
