We’re looking for a highly competent operator to join the night operations team at our flagship Ashby-de-la-Zouch operation. As part of the night operations team, you will help to monitor fleet operations and movements and be able to react when issues arise that threaten the integrity of the plan. It’s essential that you have the ability to make decisions under pressure whilst ensuring the optimum use of resource that maintains the service standards that our customers demand.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Amending the delivery plan handed over by the central planning team to reflect any change in operational circumstances. Such amendments would be a reaction to any on-night issues that threaten the plans implementation and its smooth running.
  • Amendments to the plan should be made in the most effective way to ensure a positive delivery outcome and the best utilisation of resource / cost to the business.
  • Despatch drivers and loads ensuring that clear instructions are given, and all relevant information (trailer numbers, paperwork etc) are provided to ensure success.
  • Conduct a full debrief of drivers, being sure to highlight any operationally relevant events and compiling this information in readiness for the creation of handovers to the day shift operations teams.
  • Liaise with company workshops and third-party service providers to ensure vehicle and trailer maintenance standards are met and the necessary equipment is available to meet the transport plan.
  • Working closely with our customer service teams to ensure the clear, concise, and timely communication of problems and issues when they arise and the plan to deal with them.
  • Working closely with partner hauliers through our sub-contract division ensuring (where necessary) that on-day coverage of loads is maintained.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Essential Skills

  • Have practical working knowledge of EU drivers’ legislation and the working time directive to ensure that all operational decisions are made in line with its framework.
  • Working at times unsupervised but continually managing time and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of TMS systems (Mandata preferable).
  • Managing queries and following the appropriate escalation process.
  • Assorted general administrative tasks.
  • All other reasonable requests

Desirable Skills

  • Level 2 in English & Maths
