EV Cargo’s express division Palletforce has received another prestigious award in recognition of its unrivalled commitment to health and safety in the workplace. It has been awarded the RoSPA President’s Award for the third time after achieving 12 consecutive Gold Medals in the internationally renowned Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK.

Palletforce’s achievement is a result of the company’s ongoing implementation of the latest health and safety procedures, allied with investment in driver welfare facilities, COVID-safe facilities and ground-breaking technology.

In a year when safety of personnel at the SuperHub took on a whole new significance, Palletforce was swift to invest in a wide range of sanitisation equipment and introduce a number of new procedures and practices to keep both its staff and the 500 daily visiting drivers from its members companies – helping to protect the operational integrity of its network during the worst of the pandemic.

It also invested in new driver welfare facilities including catering, shower and washroom facilities for visiting drivers.

Meanwhile its ongoing sector-leading investments in technology deliver a number of unique advantages for members and their drivers.

Patented forklift scanning and weighing software ensures Palletforce is the only express network to instantly weigh and image every pallet of freight passing through the SuperHub. The system advises forklift drivers the optimal way to load each trailer based on individual pallet weights and accurate weighing also highlights heavier pallets to boost driver safety when delivering using tail-lifts.

Palletforce launched artificial intelligence-led Alliance Sense technology last year, which helps to build a database of residential addresses and advises of deliveries that may require additional safety measures.

During 2019, Palletforce also received the ISO 45001 standard for improving employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better, safer working conditions.

Palletforce chief executive Michael Conroy said: “Ensuring the highest health and safety protocol at work remains our number one priority. Palletforce has been unwavering in its strive to operate the highest safety standards and that’s demonstrated with again being honoured with the President’s Award for the third time.

“Achieving these sector-leading safety standards is testament to our commitment to be the best and a tremendous achievement for everyone across Palletforce.”

The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “RoSPA wants every employee, wherever they are, to work safe in the knowledge that they will be going home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. The RoSPA Award winners are vital to help achieve this goal, as by entering they are driving up standards and setting new benchmarks for organisations everywhere. Currently, around 7million people are directly impacted by the RoSPA Awards, but the scheme’s influence is even wider.”
